Slips & Storage
"Where did we put Mr. Jones' boat"? or "Who owns that old runabout in
rack A5"?
If questions like these occupy a lot of your time, then you may need the BIT
Storage Management module. It works for wet slips and rack storage, as
well as for other rental situations such as storage space or tourist cabins.
The SLIPS master file contains a definition of each storage space, the
price per period, and the size and amenities available (phone, cable,
water, etc.). When a storage space is occupied, the ID numbers of the
customer and the unit are stored within the slip record. There is also
space for additional items to be charged in relation to the slip, such as
utilities and other miscellaneous items.
Then, whenever appropriate according to the slip definition, point of sale
invoices are generated and the necessary charges are added to the
customer's account.
The slip record also stores information about the customer's insurance
and a beginning and expiration date of the storage agreement.
Transient storage is handled through the point of sale system, with no
need for the operator to also put the information in the slip record.
